Samantha Hunt

Samantha Hunt, born in 1971 in Pound Ridge, New York, is an American author known for her novels blending elements of the supernatural and historical fiction, including The Seas (her debut, winner of the National Book Foundation's 5 Under 35 award), The Invention of Everything Else (finalist for the Orange Prize), Mr. Splitfoot, and her essay collection The Unwritten Book. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Bard Fiction Prize, and the St. Francis College Literary Prize, with her short stories and essays published in outlets like The New Yorker and McSweeney's. Hunt teaches writing at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and lives in New York.
