Sam W. Haynes
Sam W. Haynes is a professor of history at the University of Texas at Arlington and director of the Center for Greater Southwestern Studies, where he has taught since 1993, receiving tenure in 1998 and promotion to full professor in 2010.[1][2][3] He earned his B.A. from Columbia University and Ph.D. from the University of Houston, with research focused on 19th-century Texas, the American Southwest, and the Early American Republic.[1][2][3] Haynes has authored books including Unsettled Land: From Revolution to Republic, the Struggle for Texas (2022), Unfinished Revolution (2010), and James K. Polk and the Expansionist Impulse (1996), and is a fellow of the Texas Institute of Letters and Texas State Historical Association.[1][3]
