Saint Bede

Saint Bede, also known as the Venerable Bede, was an Anglo-Saxon monk, scholar, and theologian born in Northumbria (modern-day England) around 672–673. He is celebrated as the 'Father of English History' for his seminal work, The Ecclesiastical History of the English People, which chronicles the conversion of the Anglo-Saxon tribes to Christianity. Bede died on May 25, 735, in Jarrow, where he spent most of his life as a devoted writer and teacher.
