Rupert Matthews

Rupert Oliver Matthews (born 5 December 1961) is a British author, historian, and politician who has written over 100 books on history, battles, and the paranormal, serving as a freelance writer since 1989 and historical consultant for media.[1][3][6] He was a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands from 2017 to 2019, elected as Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner in 2021 and re-elected in 2024, before defecting to Reform UK in August 2025.[1][5]
