Rupert Brooke
Rupert Chawner Brooke (1887–1915) was an English poet renowned for his idealistic war sonnets, particularly 'The Soldier,' written during World War I. Celebrated for his striking good looks and charm, he studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, published his first poetry collection in 1911, and became associated with the Georgian poetry movement. He died of septicaemia from a mosquito bite aboard a hospital ship off Skyros, Greece, en route to the Gallipoli campaign.[1][2]
