Rudolfo Anaya

Rudolfo Anaya (1937–2020) was a pioneering Mexican American novelist and educator from New Mexico, widely recognized as one of the founding voices of contemporary Chicano literature. His debut novel, Bless Me, Ultima, is a seminal work that explores themes of identity, heritage, and the Chicano experience through rich storytelling rooted in folklore and oral traditions. Anaya received numerous accolades, including the National Humanities Medal, for his contributions to American literary history.
