Roy A. Medvedev ,
Roy Aleksandrovich Medvedev was a prominent Russian historian, dissident, and political writer known for his critical works on Stalinism, most notably *Let History Judge*, published in English in 1972. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, he faced family tragedy under Stalinism when his father was arrested and perished in a labor camp, and he later became a leading independent historian during Gorbachev's glasnost era, rejoining the Communist Party in 1989. Medvedev chronicled Soviet politics from the Revolution to post-Soviet Russia until his death in Moscow on February 13, 2026.
