Rosemary Sutcliff
Rosemary Sutcliff (1920-1992) was an English novelist best known for her historical fiction and retellings of myths and legends for children and adults. Despite being severely disabled by Still's disease and home-schooled, she became universally recognized as one of the finest writers of historical novels, with her works set in Roman Britain particularly influencing generations of readers. She won the Carnegie Medal in 1959 for The Lantern Bearers and was honored as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
