Roland Oliver
Roland Anthony Oliver (1923–2014) was an English academic and emeritus professor of African history at the University of London who was one of the founders of the academic study of African history in the West. Throughout his career, he was a prolific researcher, writer, and organizer who profoundly shaped African Studies in the United Kingdom through founding key institutions, editing major historical works, and convening conferences that brought together scholars from multiple disciplines.
