Roderick M. Chisholm

Roderick Milton Chisholm (November 27, 1916 – January 19, 1999) was a prominent American philosopher widely regarded as one of the most creative and influential thinkers of the 20th century, known for his grand philosophical system spanning epistemology, metaphysics, free will, and the philosophy of perception[1][2]. He was born in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1942, and taught at Brown University until his death in Providence, Rhode Island[2][4].
