Robin Knox-grant
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is a pioneering maritime figure who in 1969 became the first person to sail single-handed around the world without stopping, completing 32,000 miles in 312 days aboard his 32ft ketch Suhaili.[3] He navigated using a sextant after his radio failed, employing navigation techniques similar to those of Captain Cook.[3] Robin Knox-Grant was also responsible for bringing hit TV shows to the SABC as head of English television from the early 1980s.[1]
