Robin Klein
Robin Klein, born Robin McMaugh Klein on 28 February 1936 in Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia, left school at 15 and worked various jobs before establishing herself as a writer with her first story published at age 16. She authored over 40 books for children and young adults, including celebrated titles like Hating Alison Ashley, Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left, and Came Back to Show You I Could Fly, many of which won awards such as the CBCA Children's Book of the Year and a Human Rights Award for Literature. Widely regarded as one of Australia's most prolific and beloved young adult authors, she received honors including the Dromkeen Medal in 1991 and an honorary Doctorate from the University of Newcastle in 2004.[1][2][3][4]
