Roberto Calasso
Roberto Calasso (1941-2021) was an Italian author, editor, and publisher who directed Adelphi, one of Italy's most prestigious independent publishing houses, for forty years. He achieved international acclaim for his erudite works on mythology and esoteric knowledge, most notably The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony (1988), which reimagined Greek myth through a pluralistic vision. His expansive 11-part literary series, begun in 1983 with The Ruin of Kasch and concluded in 2021 with The Tablet of Destinies, examined the history of esoteric knowledge across cultures.
