Robert Swindells
Robert E. Swindells, born on 20 March 1939 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, is an acclaimed English author of children's and young adult fiction. After leaving school at 15, he worked various jobs including at a newspaper and in the Royal Air Force, later trained as a teacher, published his first book in 1973, and became a full-time writer in 1980. He is best known for award-winning novels like Stone Cold (1993 Carnegie Medal), Brother in the Land (1985 Red House Children's Book Award), and others addressing themes such as homelessness, nuclear war, and social issues.
