Robert M. Groves
Robert Martin Groves (born September 27, 1948) is an American sociologist and expert in survey methodology who served as the 23rd Director of the U.S. Census Bureau from 2009 to 2012 and as Executive Vice President and Provost of Georgetown University from 2012 to 2024. He is currently the interim president of Georgetown University since November 2024 and holds professorships in sociology and mathematics/statistics there. Groves earned his AB from Dartmouth College and advanced degrees from the University of Michigan, authoring key texts like *Survey Methodology* and founding graduate programs in survey methodology.
