Robert Layton was an English musicologist, critic, and BBC Radio producer best known as a co-author, with Ivan March and Edward Greenfield, of *The Penguin Guide to Recorded Classical Music* and related Penguin music guides. He also wrote regularly for *Gramophone* and other publications, and died in 2020 at the age of 90.
