Robert Gipe
Robert Gipe is an American novelist, educator, and community activist best known for his self-illustrated Canard County trilogy—Trampoline (2015), Weedeater (2018 or 2021), and Pop (2021)—published by Ohio University Press, which won the 2015 Weatherford Award and the 2021 Judy Gaines Young Book Award. He directed the Appalachian Program at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College in Harlan from 1997 to 2018, founded the Higher Ground community performance series, and has worked as a script consultant for Hulu's Dopesick and producer on the film The Evening Hour. Raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, he resides in Harlan County, Kentucky.
