Robert E Ficken
Robert E. Ficken was a prominent historian specializing in the Pacific Northwest, particularly Washington Territory, authoring books such as 'Washington Territory' (2002), lauded as the definitive work on the subject. He received prestigious awards including the F.K. Weyerhaeuser Award from the Forest History Society and the Charles M. Gates Memorial Award. Ficken was tragically killed by gun violence in Issaquah, Washington, along with his former wife, by their son in 2019.
