Richmond Lattimore

Richmond Alexander Lattimore was an American poet, classicist, and translator best known for his influential English translations of Greek literature, especially Homer’s *Iliad* and *Odyssey*. He taught Greek at Bryn Mawr College for many years and is regarded as one of the leading translators of classical texts in the 20th century.
