Richard Peace
Richard Peace (1933–2013) was a British scholar of Russian literature, renowned for his monographs on major 19th-century authors including Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Turgenev, and Leo Tolstoy. He taught at the University of Bristol and University of Hull, serving as professor of Russian, and was president of the British Universities Association of Slavists. Self-taught in Russian as a schoolboy, he earned degrees from Oxford University and contributed to works like The Cambridge History of Russian Literature.
