Richard Lydekker

Richard Lydekker (1849-1915) was a British naturalist, geologist, and prolific writer on natural history who made significant contributions to zoology, paleontology, and biogeography. He worked extensively for the Geological Survey of India and later the British Museum of Natural History, where he catalogued fossil vertebrate collections and described numerous new species. He is best known for delineating Lydekker's Line in 1896, a biogeographical boundary through Indonesia that separates Wallacea from Australia-New Guinea.
