Richard Kenney

Richard L. Kenney (born 1948) is an American poet and professor of English at the University of Washington, known for his technically intricate poetry that employs traditional forms, rhyme, and scientific metaphors to explore time and the self. He is the author of five books: *The Evolution of the Flightless Bird* (1984, Yale Younger Poets Prize), *Orrery*, *The Invention of the Zero*, *The One-Strand River*, and *Terminator*. Kenney has received prestigious awards including a MacArthur Fellowship (1987), Guggenheim and Lannan Fellowships, and lives with his family in Port Townsend, Washington.
