Richard Horace
Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) was a Roman poet, satirist, and critic who lived during the transition from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. Born to a freedman in Venusia, he studied in Rome and Athens, briefly served in Brutus’s army, and later became associated with Maecenas and Emperor Augustus. He is especially known for his Odes, Satires, and Epistles.
