Richard Burton

Richard Burton (1925–1984) was a renowned Welsh stage and cinema actor celebrated for his portrayals of intelligent, world-weary, and self-destructive characters. Born Richard Walter Jenkins in Pontrhydyfen, Wales, he adopted the surname Burton after his guardian, teacher Philip Burton, and became one of the most acclaimed British actors of the post-WWII era with seven Academy Award nominations.
