Rich Oppel
Richard A. Oppel Jr., commonly known as Rich Oppel, is an American journalist, newspaper, magazine, and digital editor born in Newark, New Jersey. He served as editor of the Charlotte Observer from 1978 to 1993, during which the newspaper won three Pulitzer Prizes, and later as interim editor-in-chief of Texas Monthly from May 2018 to February 2019. Oppel reported for The New York Times from Iraq, Israel, and Washington, D.C., and worked for publications including the Los Angeles Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and Dallas Morning News.
