Raymond Brown
Raymond E. Brown (1928–1998) was an American Sulpician priest and prominent Catholic biblical scholar, renowned for his rigorous studies on the Gospel of John, the birth and death of Jesus, and the New Testament. He authored over 40 books, including groundbreaking works like The Gospel According to John (1966–1970), The Birth of the Messiah (1977), and The Death of the Messiah (1994), and served as Auburn Professor of Biblical Studies at Union Theological Seminary from 1971 to 1990. Brown was the first tenured Catholic professor at the Protestant seminary and held leadership roles in the Catholic Biblical Association and Society of Biblical Literature.[1][2][3][5]
