Ray (ed) Sibnarayan

Shibnarayan Ray (1921-2008) was an Indian litterateur, critic, humanist philosopher, and editor, born in Kolkata to educationist Upendranath Vidyabhushan Shastri. He was a close associate of M.N. Roy, co-edited the Radical Humanist, chaired Indian Studies at the University of Melbourne (1963-81), and published over fifty books in English and Bengali on literature, philosophy, history, and sociology. He died in Shantiniketan at age 87.
