Rand McNally and Company

Rand McNally & Company was founded in 1856 in Chicago by William H. Rand and Andrew McNally as a printing business specializing in railroad tickets, timetables, and business directories. Officially incorporated in 1868, the company pioneered mapmaking with its first map in a 1872 railroad guide using innovative wax engraving for low-cost production. It grew to become the world's leading map publisher, producing atlases, globes, and travel guides, and remains active today.
