Rainer Waser
Rainer Waser is a German physicist and chemist renowned for his pioneering work on memristors and resistive switches as memory elements in information technology. Born on September 16, 1955, he studied chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt, earned his doctorate there, worked in industry, and became a professor of Electrical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University in 1992 while directing the Peter Grünberg Institute for Electronic Materials at Forschungszentrum Jülich since 1997. He received the prestigious Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2014 and is now a Distinguished Professor Emeritus.
