Rachael Hanel
Rachael Hanel is a nonfiction writer and professor of creative writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she teaches media writing and creative nonfiction.[3] A native of Waseca, Minnesota, she is the author of more than twenty nonfiction books for children and several memoirs, including We'll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger's Daughter, which was a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award, and Not the Camilla We Knew: One Woman's Path from Small-town America to the Symbionese Liberation Army.[2][3] She holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and previously worked as a newspaper reporter and copy editor.[3]
