R. Sizer

Theodore Ryland 'Ted' Sizer (1932–2009) was an influential American educator and reformer who founded the Coalition of Essential Schools in 1984 and championed personalized, flexible instruction in American secondary schools[1][2]. He is best known for his 'Horace Trilogy' of books, including Horace's Compromise, which critically examined the dilemmas of the American high school and proposed radical educational reforms[4][6]. Sizer served as a professor emeritus at Brown University and previously as dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education[3][7].
