R. Santhanam
R. Santhanam (IAS, 1972 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre) is a retired Indian Administrative Services officer who held several important government positions including Collector of Ramnad district, Secretary to multiple departments (Finance, Transport, Planning and Development, Commercial Taxes), and Secretary to the Governor. He holds postgraduate degrees in Chemistry and Public Administration, and an MBA from the University of Hull, UK. He was instrumental in designing Chennai's second master plan as Vice Chairman of CMDA and received national and international recognition for his relief operations during the 2004 tsunami, 2005 floods, and 2003-04 drought.
