R. O. Blechman, born Oscar Robert Blechman, is an American animator, illustrator, children's book author, graphic novelist, and editorial cartoonist renowned for his unique style and influential works such as the 1953 book The Juggler of Our Lady and the iconic 1967 Alka-Seltzer animated commercial.[1][2] After graduating from Oberlin College, he founded his animation studio The Ink Tank, created numerous New Yorker covers, and received awards including multiple Emmys, a Cannes Gold Medal, and induction into the Art Directors Hall of Fame in 1999.[1][2][6] His career spans decades, with retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art and contributions to magazines, advertising, and books.[1][2]
