R. H. Dillard
R. H. W. Dillard (Richard Henry Wilde Dillard) was an American poet, author, critic, and translator born in Roanoke, Virginia. He taught creative writing at Hollins University for 59 years beginning in 1964, serving as chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing for 33 years and founding the university's graduate program in children's literature. He was an accomplished writer of poetry, fiction, and critical essays, and received numerous awards including the AWP George Garrett Award and the O. B. Hardison, Jr. Poetry Prize.
