R Givens

Jarvis R. Givens is a historian and professor of Education and African and African American Studies at Harvard University. His scholarship focuses on 19th- and 20th-century African American history, the educational and intellectual traditions of Black communities, and the history of race and schooling in the United States. He is the author of books including Fugitive Pedagogy, School Clothes, American Grammar, and I’ll Make Me a World.
