R. Cole Heinowitz
Rebecca Cole Heinowitz (also known as R. Cole Heinowitz or Cole Heinowitz) was an American poet, translator, musician, and scholar of Romantic and transatlantic literature who taught as Associate Professor of Literature at Bard College from 2004 until her death. Born in San Diego, she published her first poetry collection *Daily Chimera* at age nineteen and authored additional books including *Stunning in Muscle Hospital* and *The Rubicon*, while translating works by Mario Santiago Papasquiaro and Alejandra Pizarnik. She received her Ph.D. from Brown University and died at age 50 in a tragic hiking accident in California in May 2025.
