Purple Pencil & Crayon

Crockett Johnson, born David Johnson Leisk, was an American cartoonist, children's book author, and illustrator best known for his comic strip Barnaby (1942–1952) and the Harold series, starting with Harold and the Purple Crayon (1955).[1][2] He began his career in advertising and magazines, later collaborating with his wife Ruth Krauss on books like The Carrot Seed (1945), and produced over 20 children's books with a minimalist style.[3][4]
