Prestel

Johann Gottlieb Prestel (1739-1808) was a German painter, draftsman, and engraver considered a master of copperplate engraving. He trained his wife Maria Katharina Prestel in printmaking techniques, and together they developed innovative multi-plate printmaking methods and published influential series of reproductive prints from Renaissance and Baroque drawings in German private collections.
