Philip McCutchan
Philip Donald McCutchan (1920-1996) was a prolific British author known for his naval fiction, military thrillers, and science fiction, particularly the Commander Shaw series.[1][2] Growing up in the naval atmosphere of Portsmouth Dockyard, he developed a lifelong interest in the sea and served throughout World War II in various ships, ending as a lieutenant in the RNVR.[3][5] He wrote over 90 books under his name and pseudonyms like Duncan MacNeil and Robert Conington Galway.[1][3]
