Philip F. Esler

Philip Francis Esler is an Australian-born scholar and former lawyer whose work focuses on New Testament studies, biblical interpretation, and the social-scientific reading of ancient texts. He has held senior academic and administrative posts in the UK, including serving as the inaugural chief executive of the Arts and Humanities Research Council and later as Portland Chair in New Testament Studies at the University of Gloucestershire.
