Philip B. Stafford
Philip B. Stafford is a cultural anthropologist and gerontologist who earned his BA in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1971 and his PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Indiana University in 1977. He served as Director of the Center on Aging and Community at Indiana University's Indiana Institute on Disability and Community in Bloomington, Indiana, where he has lived since 1978, and is the author of books such as 'Gray Areas: Ethnographic Encounters with Nursing Home Culture' (2003) and 'Elderburbia.' Currently, he is CoDesign Director at Commons Planning, Inc., and holds affiliations including adjunct faculty positions at Indiana University and Arizona State University, while serving on various boards related to aging and community.
