Phil Klay

Phil Klay is an American author and former U.S. Marine Corps veteran whose short story collection 'Redeployment,' inspired by his service in Iraq, won the 2014 National Book Award for Fiction. He is known for his fiction, nonfiction, and essays exploring the experiences of veterans returning home and civilian perceptions of military service. Klay currently teaches fiction at Fairfield University and has published works including the novel 'Missionaries' and the essay collection 'Uncertain Ground'.
