Peter Flügel

Peter Flügel is a Professor in the Study of Religions and Philosophies at SOAS University of London, where he is the Founding Chair of the Centre of Jaina Studies, the only academic institution outside India dedicated to Jainism research and teaching.[1][3] He earned his Dr Phil from Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, specializes in the history, anthropology, and sociology of Jain schools and sects, and serves as editor of the International Journal of Jain Studies and series editor for Routledge Advances in Jaina Studies.[1][2] Flügel has published extensively on contemporary Jainism, relic stūpas, Jaina-Vaiṣṇava syncretism, and topics in comparative philosophy, pluralism, and non-violence.[1]
