Peter Ferry
Peter Ferry was a teacher, writer, and editor who spent nearly three decades teaching English and writing at Lake Forest High School in Illinois, inspiring students including Vince Vaughn and Dave Eggers. He wrote travel pieces for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times, edited textbooks for Rand McNally, and published his debut novel Travel Writing in 2008 at age 61, followed by the award-winning Old Heart. Ferry, who earned an MA in English Literature from Northwestern University and served as a Fulbright teacher in the Netherlands, died on September 17, 2024, at age 77.
