Peter Duffett-Smith
Peter Duffett-Smith is a British physicist, professor emeritus at the University of Cambridge, and author of popular astronomy books including Practical Astronomy with Your Calculator (1979), Astronomy with Your Personal Computer, and Easy PC Astronomy. He founded Cambridge Positioning Systems, serving as its Chief Technical Officer and Chief Scientific Officer, and invented the Matrix positioning method and Enhanced GPS technologies as part of his PhD work in radio astronomy. He was a Fellow in Physics at Downing College (1980-2013), Reader in Experimental Radio Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, and held various college roles including Director of Studies in Physics, Vice Master, and Senior Fellow.
