Peggy Rathmann
Margaret Crosby 'Peggy' Rathmann is an American children's author and illustrator born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1953, who earned a BA in psychology from the University of Minnesota before studying art at institutions including the American Academy of Art in Chicago and Otis College of Art and Design.[1][2][3] Her debut book *Ruby the Copycat* (1991) won her the 'Most Promising New Author' award from Publishers Weekly, followed by *Good Night, Gorilla* (1994), an ALA Notable Book, and *Officer Buckle and Gloria* (1995), which received the 1996 Caldecott Medal.[1][2][4]
