Peggy Appiah
Enid Margaret 'Peggy' Appiah (née Cripps), MBE (1921–2006), was a British-born children's author, philanthropist, and socialite best known for her books retelling Ashanti folklore for young readers. Married to Ghanaian statesman Joe Appiah, she lived in Kumasi, Ghana from 1954, where she immersed herself in local culture, wrote novels and poetry, and supported charitable causes including children's homes and racial unity efforts.[1][2][3]
