Paul Parrott

James 'Paul' Parrott (1897-1939) was an American actor, director, and writer in silent and early sound comedies, best known as the younger brother of Charley Chase and for directing classic Laurel and Hardy shorts including The Music Box (1932) and Pardon Us (1931).[1][3] He began his film career in 1917 at Fox Studios through his brother, starred in his own Hal Roach shorts from 1922, and later contributed as a writer to films like Way Out West (1937).[1][3] Parrott struggled with alcohol and drug issues, which ended his directing career by the mid-1930s, leading to freelance writing before his death from heart failure.[1]
