Paul Dunbar

Paul Laurence Dunbar was an American poet, novelist, and playwright, renowned for his vivid portrayal of African American life and dialect poetry. Born to formerly enslaved parents, he gained national prominence with works like 'Oak and Ivy' and 'Lyrics of a Lowly Life,' becoming one of the first influential Black writers in American literature. Despite a short life, he produced a prolific body of work that continues to be celebrated.
