Paul B. Baltes

Paul B. Baltes was a German psychologist who directed the Center for Lifespan Psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development from 1980 to 2004. He is credited with developing influential theories about lifespan development, wisdom, selective optimization with compensation, and successful aging. He was also an Honorary Professor of Psychology at the Free University of Berlin and a Distinguished Professor at the University of Virginia.
